About

Your gift to SIU Medicine's Alliance for Women in Medicine & Science (AWIMS) will help support initiatives that will promote equity, career advancement, work-life balance and community service for women in medicine and science.

SIU Medicine's AWIMS was established in 2018. What started as an informal gathering gradually morphed into a robust, vital organization. Housed within the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the mission of AWIMS is to provide a supportive forum to promote honest discussion and positive change in the realms of gender equity, career advancement, work-life balance, and community service, and to champion professional development and promotion of women in medicine and science. AWIMS is open to all members of our SIU community, not just women.

Initiatives include:

  1. Education Collaborative with Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  2. Research and Scholarship
  3. Community Engagement Collaborative with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  4. Mentorship and Career Advancement
  5. Mindfulness and Wellness
  6. Recognition and Awards
