The Alma Buhnerkempe Memorial Fund will fund initiatives that support SIU School of Medicine while reflecting Alma's passions and spirit. In remembrance of Dr. Michael Buhnerkempe’s beloved daughter, Alma, a memorial fund has been established to honor Alma’s memory. Alma tragically lost her life in an incident at YNOT after-school care in Chatham, IL. She was an exceptionally active and vibrant child, deeply engaged in travel soccer, basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, softball, Girl Scouts, and learning the piano. Alma was also an avid Roblox player, enjoying games like Berry Ave and Dress to Impress while connecting with her friends.
