Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Department of Population Science and Policy (PSP) aims to better understand and advance the health, development, and wellness of residents in a mostly rural region of central and southern Illinois. PSP’s interdisciplinary team works to understand why health disparities exist and then designs and implements interventions to address the community’s specific challenges. Finally, the PSP team recommends policies to sustain positive change and improve health in the community. PSP’s processes are built upon public health epidemiology, evaluation and implementation science to provide communities the greatest opportunity for better health.
