Resident education has been the heart of SIU Dermatology. Our dermatologists are enthusiastic teachers and learners, and we endeavor to provide our residents with excellent and enjoyable training in medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and dermatopathology. Responsibility and autonomy are advanced according to the abilities of the learner, such that residents are well-prepared for independent practice upon completion of the program. We pride ourselves on a collegial and supportive environment and continually strive to treat our patients with the same attention and respect that we would desire for our own families.
The Division of Dermatology at SIU Medicine is committed to education, research, and patient care as it relates to the disease of the skin, hair, and nails. Our division is focused on the education of future physicians and scientists in the field of dermatology, as dermatologists diagnose and treat more than 3,000 different diseases. These diseases include eczema, acne, psoriasis, and skin cancers such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
