MEDPREP Scholarships

For students in The SIU School of Medicine MEDPREP program, finding the time and money to earn the necessary education for a career in medicine or dentistry is a daunting obstacle. Paying tuition and bills, while juggling classes, work and personal life are daily realities. But the true reality is that it doesn’t have to be this difficult. 

Support our MEDPREP students’ dreams of a medicine or dentistry career through a scholarship gift to one or more of the following scholarships: 

Tamara O'Neal MEDPREP Scholarship: Dr. Tamara O’Neal (MP Class of 2009) served as an Emergency Physician at Mercy Hospital in Chicago before her untimely passing at age 38 in 2018. We honor Dr. O’Neal’s selfless dedication to others, whether it was family, friends, or patients, with this named scholarship.  

Harold and Lana Bardo MEDPREP Scholarship: Dr. Harold Bardo served as MEDPREP director for 30 years; Dr. and Mrs. Bardo have made great contributions to SIU, MEDPREP and the Carbondale community. Please join them in providing these awards in support of MEDPREP students who will go on to serve the community in the health professions.

Robinson-McNeese MEDPREP Scholarship: Provided by Dr. Wesley Robinson-McNeese, family and friends, these scholarships are awarded to MEDPREP students with financial need.

MEDPREP Benefactors Endowed Scholarship Fund: This endowed scholarship fund provides yearly scholarships to MEDPREP students. All donations to the Benefactor Endowment increase MEDPREP’s ability to give yearly scholarships in perpetuity.
