As the fifth and newest residency program within SIU Family and Community Medicine (FCM), the program benefits from SIU FCM’s many years of successful administration of resident education throughout the state. The program is located on the hospital campus of Alton Memorial Hospital, in a brand-new administrative and educational space. The faculty and resident outpatient clinical practice occurs onsite within the clinical practice of Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, a FQHC serving vulnerable patients throughout the region. Residents in our program spend the majority of their time in Alton itself, but also benefit from experiences in St. Louis and in rural Illinois communities.
