SIU Medicine is home to highly skilled gastroenterologists, and is a leader in gastroenterology residency and research. Our team provides intensive, community-based education for medical students and residents while also providing superior digestive medical care. Our gastroenterologists diagnose and treat patients living with conditions affecting the digestive system, including Barrett’s esophagus, heartburn, pancreatitis, colon cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, gallbladder disease, hepatitis, celiac disease, and pelvic floor dysfunction. We use a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services and technologies, including minimally invasive strategies, that help alleviate symptoms of gastrointestinal upset, resolve digestive dysfunction and improve outcomes.
